UCSC’s Sculpture Area provides a vibrant location for experimentation with materials, socio-cultural understanding of artistic traditions and creative production. Students explore ideas as research, innovation and experimentation encompassing every technique and material imaginable to create three- dimensional forms. Our primary objective is to create a structure where both research and production are processes permeable to viewer interaction and participation.

The sculpture area provides a strong grounding in principal art skills and methodologies, informed by contemporary studio practice and innovation. The sculpture area at Baskin Arts Studios offers a suite of undergraduate studios and shop facilities. Here students have opportunities to focus and refine their ongoing work with an array of workshops, demonstrations and exhibition opportunities.
