Explores how we relate to the environment through sound and listening, and how to use sound as an artistic material. Through practical workshops students will learn to make sound walks, field recordings and installations on the UCSC campus environment. These experiments will be grounded in discussions of sound art and acoustic ecology, environmental art and visual art. Students learn techniques to combine sound with visual materials and create group and individual projects to be presented during class. (MWF 9:20 - 11:45)
