Mark moved to the Bay Area from New York City in 2005. After completing his MFA in Sculpture at Rhode Island School of Design, he worked as the assistant to Ursula von Rydingsvard. Mark entered into the early founding of the art district in Chelsea (NYC) and worked at the Andrea Rosen Gallery as the art preparator and registrar before opening his own gallery in D.U.M.B.O., Brooklyn. Brooklyn Front, operated from June 2001 – September 2002, focused on emerging artists and exhibitions that challenged the expectations of the white cube. During his time in NYC he oversaw projects with MoMA, Public Art Fund, Socrates Sculpture Park and various private collections.
Mark’s current home and studio are in Santa Cruz where he works part-time as the gallery manager and assistant curator at the Sesnon Art Gallery and operates Art Research Office as a nomadic exhibition program in the private sector.
