April 17th 6pm:

Join 516 ARTS and guest curator Lea Anderson in welcoming visiting San Francisco-based artist Melissa Gwyn to Albuquerque for a unique presentation and talk at CNM's Smith-Brasher Hall. Gwyn will give a presentation on her decades long painterly preoccupation with surface, illusion, rupture and revelation. In paintings that are non-representational and realistic, kitschy and substantial, Gwyn's work rests between the idiosyncratic and the political. In her series Fabergenic, Gwyn explores the subjects of inheritance, opulence and power. For more information, visit
