The Earth as Metaphor: Wednesday Eco Art Lecture Series at Porter Faculty Gallery Wednesdays: 4:30-6pm

Thu, Jan 17, 2013, 12:30 am to Wed, Mar 13, 2013, 11:30 pm
Porter Faculty Gallery, Rm D222

This mini series of Eco Art lectures will compliment Beth Stephens' course, Art 124: Material Metaphor: Creating Meaning in Form.  This quarter we will explore metaphors associated with the Earth and enviornmentalism to see how they influence the ways we see and understand the world around us.

Artists, activists and scientists working in environmentalism, ecology, performance and earth art will present their work and ideas each week throughout the winter quarter. These lectures and presentations will inform student understanding and their practice and production of environmentally engaged works in the studio and beyond. Lectures are open to the public and will be followed by a meet and greet reception hosted by the Sesnon Gallery. This project was supported in part by the Dean Yager's Excellence in the Arts Fund.
