"Migration Then and Now" - Emeriti Faculty Lecture with Lewis Watts

Migration Then and Now by Lewis Watts, professor emeritus of art.

Tuesday, November 29th
7:00 p.m.
Music Center Recital Hall, UCSC
Free and open to the public

Watts will give an illustrated talk that will trace his photographic documentation of the connections between the Great African American Migration of the 20th Century and the current migration crisis in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. This work comes from his own family history and the work he has already done in San Francisco, Oakland, Harlem, New Orleans, Cuba, France, Greece and South Africa. Watts will look at people and the traces they left, who have a common cause of leaving home because of war, political oppression and the promise of economic opportunity.

Location: Music Center Recital Hall
