Pre-Art to Art: Frosh entering 2011-2012 should complete their lower division requirements and be prepared to declare their art major by spring of their sophmore year.
Lower-division requirements (6 courses):

Art 80C - Introduction to Visual Arts (Spring 2012)
Art 10H - 3D Foundation (Fall 2011) OR
Art 10G -2D Foundation (Winter 2012)
Any 3 of the following:
21 Introduction to Computer Art I (may substitute Art 80F: Issues in Digital Media if taken in Fall 2011 or Winter 2012)
22 Introduction to Electronics for Intermedia
23 Intermedia I
*24A Introduction to Painting - Oil
*24B Introduction to Painting - Acrylic
25 Relief Printmaking
26 Introduction to Printmaking
27 Monoprinting/Mixed Media Printing

Upper-division requirements (8 courses):
7 Upper Division Studio Courses
(2 of these may be Senior Studio.)
Art 150C: Critical Issues in Contemporary Art (Disciplinary Communications requirement)
Comprehensive Requirement:
Senior Studio satisfies the Art Department comprehensive requirement. Graduating students who did not enroll in Senior Studio must enroll in 2 upper division studios and present a solo exhibit or portfolio to a full-time faculty member for critique and evaluation. Senior students should meet with their respective advisors regarding this requirement.
JUNIOR TRANSFERS (2011 - 2012)
Transfer students who will be juniors are required to pass a portfolio review in April prior to their admission to the University.

Please remember that three studios is a minimum requirement and may not be enough studio work undertaken to pass the highly competitive nature of the portfolio review.
