Spring is a time for uprising, and at this very minute, the protagonists in Amy Blondell’s new play, Rise Up at Liberty Springs, are piling through the door of the Liberty Springs Bathhouse for Women to enjoy the waters, share confidences and their newest artworks, strategize about growing alternative spaces and economies, and organize mass resistance. Set in the Valencia Corridor of the Mission District of San Francisco, circa 1990-2010, Rise Up at Liberty Springs reflects community efflorescence, burgeoning structural environment, and the irrepressible spirit of the times.The play tells the story of how politics and desire ignite one another.
