We are excited to invite you to the opening of the Environmental Art & Social Practice MFA Exhibition, “Cobija de Tripas (Gut Blanket),” which will be held at the Sesnon Gallery from April 2 to May 3, 2025.
Opening Reception:
Date: April 2, 2025
Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM
Location: Sesnon Gallery
“Cobija de Tripas (Gut Blanket)” is an exhibition that explores the profound intersections of the body, space, race, family legacies, and ecological systems. The exhibition’s title conjures a powerful image of bodily interiority—visceral yet comforting, while also suggesting a protective, enveloping form.
The works of the MFA artists on display delve into themes of food sovereignty, river restoration, indoor ecologies, and the interwoven nature of all living beings. Through sculpture, installation, painting, video, and performance, they explore how bodies—human, nonhuman, and environmental—interact with cultural and ecological surroundings.
The exhibition invites reflection on the body as not just a vessel, but as a dynamic site where personal, political, and ecological narratives converge, reminding us of our constant relationships with each other, the landscapes we inhabit, and the forces that connect us all.
We hope you can join us for this special event and immerse yourself in these compelling works of art that challenge and inspire.
