Bronze Foundry

The Foundry is a state of the art facility with an overhead crane, two furnaces, and a burn-out kiln for evacuation of the wax. The class accommodates all the work of 20 students in one bronze pouring using the lost wax method and ceramic shell investment. It is the last operating foundry class in the U.C. system and offers undergraduate students a unique sculptural experience.

The foundry class is an upper division sculpture studio class. Students who wish to enroll must first complete the prerequisite of passing a lower division sculpture studio class.

Green Lab Certified: Our foundry is green lab certified at the platinum level through the sustainability office certification program, through June 2026.
