Enrique Leal publishes in University West of England printmaking journal
Associate Professor Enrique Leal recently published his article, Cumulus Calcite. The Subtractive Rendering of a Photographed Cloud in the University West of England academic publication IMPACT Journal 5, Spring 2022. The article features the image of a cloud carved into a slab of alabaster using CNC milling technology that renders a photographs black and white tonal information into relief surfaces. Leal’s text explores how the clouds carved optical illusion (Hollow-Face Illusion) results in fluctuating perceptions that promote the poetics of deep geological time and the transitive formations of atmospheric phenomena. IMPACT was launched in Spring of 2020 by the Centre for Print Research UWE a multidisciplinary research group that advances the insights and practices of traditional and digital print media technologies. https://www.impactprintmaking.com/issue-5/
