In the beginning of the course we had to go around and talk about what we enjoyed doing. I had said I like to cry in the shower and that was the inspiration of this animation
“Water Works”
This is the final animation for my class. It was shot on an iPhone. I used felt for my main props and puppet as well as foamcore for the set.

For this project, I based it on true, unfortunate events that happened to me this year. Although it's been a while since these events happened, I constantly look back and laugh about it, which is why I chose to make this project lighthearted and silly. I have always loved telling fun stories of my life, which is why I chose to share these specific moments.

“End of the Shift”
Two minimum wage coworkers, who have somewhat of a friendship, go about their end of shift duties. Set is made of cardboard, clay, and some wires, with the use of some greenscreen. The puppets are made of felt, cotton, reused clothing, and armature wire.

Art has always been a significant way of communication in my life, expressing changes I go through, emotions I feel, and how I perceive the world. I find my peace through creating and I have learned how the pieces I create can cause a positive influence on other people's emotions and views on the Universe. I find meaning in creation, and I fully believe my reason for existing is bringing light into the world through my work. I find much of my inspiration comes to me from music and other artists' art. I like the freedom to express how I feel and push some sort of message to observers. My motive is to make people wonder, think, and come up with answers and their own meanings they see in my piece that might not necessarily be what I was attempting to express, but it means something to them, and shows the way they think and perceive the world around them. I view people, nature, animals, all non sentient beings, items, and the intangible all as one. We are all the universe, we all are connected, we are all art.

“Daytime Vampire ART106C Final”
This animation project is meant to be a representation of ourselves and how the artist perceives who they are. I have always been compared to a vampire, some of my friends call me “vamp”. Hence the main character being a vampire. I feel like I’ve always tried so hard to force myself to be a certain way or act as if I’m something I’m not. It would work for a little while but you can never change who you truly are meant to be. As I’ve matured I have learned from this, but this video symbolizes the struggles I went through with my identity and who I was growing up.

“To Be a Kid Again”
This was my final project assignment for my Stopmotion class. The materials I had used were: paper, clay, styrofoam, yarn, popsicle sticks, acrylic paint, and glue. One requirement for the assignment was to have a self-portrait puppet, or at least represented oneself in some way. My puppet is crocheted from head to toe, which represents my craft abilities. The puppet also represents me as a child. When I had no responsibilities and life was carefree. Since being an adult can be stressful and the responsibilities one obtains can become overwhelming.

In my art practice, I'm predominantly interested in utilizing digital art and animation to explore concepts of the self, memory, and my own unique experiences in the context of cultural expression. I love creating digital illustrations, graphic design, and photography, as well as creating stop-motion, 2D, and 3D animations. I mainly use digital tools and softwares, like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Blender as well as 2D and stop motion softwares. I want to present my work in public spaces. For my digital art, I would like to have my images used in magazines, websites, galleries, and social media. I also enjoy exhibiting my photography and animations on social media and commercial/non-profit galleries. I think it would be interesting to have my work displayed around many different types of mediums that deal with similar themes of atmosphere, environment, and the self. Eventually, I would like to work as a professional animator for an animation studio, as well as doing freelance work for my photography and digital art.
My overall purpose with creating these artworks is fostering emotionally enriched atmospheres inspired by the self, childhood, and memory through focusing on the environment and my relationship to it. I focus on self portraiture in my photography, digital illustration, and graphic design, and play on notions of childhood memories and a reconstruction of my inner child through animation. My art practice is especially engaging when I approach it as a form of self expression, reflection, and healing from trauma. I use it as a form of healing and practice of vulnerability with myself by exploring my connection between past and present, inner child and adulthood, mother, sister, daughter (feminine roles) within the self and greater society.
My overall intention for creating art is fostering a connection with others on a deep, emotional level- especially when it comes to shared experiences, developing empathy, and creating an open space of self-reflection and vulnerability. This comes from my own inspiration of my life experiences. I hope to create an open, empathetic environment with others by sharing my emotional struggles, realizations, and processes of understanding.
“Trapped”
This was my final stop motion animation assignment where I had to create a 2 minute story through the use of stop motion animation techniques. I created all of the props, sets, and puppets myself to create a story about memory, childhood, and the trappings of nostalgia.

“Vegan Wedding”
A grandma-grandaughter catering duo experience an unfortunate situation due to a lack of proper communication. Despite Amy explaining this major hiccup to Gamma, they can’t see eye-to-eye. Sometimes a concept that may seem simple to one person may not be as easy to understand for another.
An important note: bear in mind that it’s never okay to knowingly serve someone something they can’t eat due to their diet as it would be harmful to their health, but since these are cartoon dogs its okay – I assure you that their organs are made of clay.
The set is made of paper, cardboard, clay, wire, glass and found materials. Puppets Amy and Gamma are made of clay and felt.

“A Wish for Courage”
This was my final project for this class. The materials I used for the puppets and background include cardboard, paper, fabric, and foam. The puppet had to be a self-portrait, so I decided to make the two puppets represent two parts of myself. The story is about how I struggle to approach and talk to new people, so one part of me is trying to muster up the courage to talk to someone and make a friend, while the other part is trying to stop myself out of fear that something would go terribly wrong.
