Below are my three digital art images that I produced while in this class that I am most proud of. They were all produced using adobe illustrator on a tablet.
Pattern emulation of a peacock
Line drawing of a selfie overlaid by a sketch of the line drawing to create a more abstract image of a self-portrait.
A phrase turned into an image poster
Byron Belcher

“It’s Fashion!”
Adobe Illustrator
I wanted to have fun with this portrait so I based it on a silly photo of my sister stuck in a sweater.
Byron Belcher
“Sickening, No!”
Adobe Illustrator
An abstraction of the previous portrait. For this image I wanted to play around with the vectors used in this portrait. Facial expressions help to convey a spectrum of emotions and I wanted to try to express these emotions along with basic shapes, especially triangles.
Byron Belcher
“Monolith”
Adobe Illustrator
For this project I spent a lot of time playing with the font styles. With so many possible options I felt like I had to really pay attention to subtle details in the text and how it affected the way I viewed my quote. In the end I choose the Futura font. I believe the quote I chose is relevant to how I view my past and current relationship with faith and I wanted to explore that.

“Effigy”
Adobe Illustrator
Another concept I had with the quote I chose. I wanted this image to feel more optimistic and warm.

At the beginning of the course, Art 80T, I was a complete beginner at digital art. I had never used Adobe Photoshop or Illustration before. Though I am much more experienced with traditional art and techniques, I struggled with digital illustration. With the help of the course, I was able to experiment and practice various digital tools as well as develop my creativity. For Open Studios I have submitted some of my favorite digital artworks, from the course, in which I was able to have a lot of creative control on what I wanted to illustrate and depict.

“You are entirely up to you.”
Adobe Illustrator
A text-only poster design, part of a series of three poster designs utilizing the same quote “You are entirely up to you.” The poster is an experimentation of using text and image as well as using text as image. This particular poster is meant to highlight the word “entirely” to connect to ideas of wholeness.

“Loving Attention”
Adobe Illustrator
A vector illustration based on a self-portrait image. “Loving Attention” is part of a series of three illustrations, each with altered colors and altered shapes. The colors of the illustration are meant (but not limited) to further associate with ideas of softness, love, and blush.

“A Sense of Self”
Adobe Photoshop
A digital self-portrait collage, experimenting with the arrangement of facial features to create a cohesive piece. Overall collage is inspired by imaginary characters, natural elements, and “editorial” elements.

“The Tower Bridge Dancing Under the Fireworks”
Adobe Photoshop
An illustrated GIF based on a video of fireworks above the Tower Bridge that the artist recorded. The bridge, a still structure, appears to be moving with the fireworks.

“Leapfrog UI/UX”
Made Using Adobe XD
AI generated story-based text game, set to
“swamp exploration” where the player is
currently encountering a large frog and
must choose a potion.
Grace Ho
“Storybear UI/UX”
Made Using Adobe XD
AI generated story-based strategy game, set to “murder mystery” where the player is trying to solve a murder plot and is trying to get information without getting caught.
Grace Ho
“Quickermit”
Made Using Adobe Photoshop
Rotoscoped a gif with Kermit typing on a typewriter and added creative liberties, like replacing it with a computer, adding a reflection on the monitor, and adding a background to match the cartoon-y style.

“Tiger in a 4x4”
Made Using Adobe Illustrator
Reducing a tiger down to its most recognizable characteristics.
Ian Budesa

“Mother”
Adobe Photoshop
Lately I have been feeling homesick and I miss my mom who is up in Northern California while I am still in Santa Cruz. Creating this piece helped me somewhat process the emotions I was feeling.
Ian Budesa
“Frog Skin”
Adobe Illustrator
I created the pattern of a poison dart frog using an image as a reference. The first is the original, and the second is using different colors. The second to me looks like blood cells which I found interesting!

“A Dream”
Adobe Photoshop
Though I did not have this as a dream, the photoshop itself turned out to be very unusual like something you may see in a dream sequence.

‘Pink lemonade with sprinkles’
Adobe Illustrator
This image combines the animal patterns of a big cat and a giraffe
Irum Aamer
‘The existential crisis’
Adobe Illustrator
This image portrays the same phrase in different color and backwards. Different spacing in used to create a feeling of closeness or separation(isolation),
Irum Aamer
‘Flashing lights, special edition cover’
Adobe Illustrator
I love how the gradient turned out, the colour of it and how clean and organized it looks.
Irum Aamer
‘The stars above’
Adobe Illustrator
A retake on the same phrase as image 2 but with a different twist. This one portrays a lighter feeling due to the vibrant colours used.
Janeen Davoodzadeh
I loved making art for this class and learning more about digital tools! I am just getting started with digital art, so I am very excited now for all to come!

Digital photo
This was for a selfie alteration project. I made myself look like an alien.

Digital photo
This was another selfie alteration. I made myself look like a crystal in a pink organ.

Gif
This was for a looping gif project. The darkness and light are created but the light wins and returns into him. This was fun to make, I like it.

I am new to creating art. Currently I am interested in exploring the dynamics involved in the experience of being. How we discover ourselves, how we see ourselves, who and what the world tells us we are and how that affects who we believe ourselves to be. The art I share here is an expression of all of that.
WHO
Photoshop
This image shows the piecing together of the individual to discover themselves. Their eyes, mouth, nose, etc. are distorted in order to show lack of symmetry in their being.
She/Her/I or They/Them/I
Photoshop
This image shows the multifacetedness of human existence. All three faces belong to the same person, but all are different. There is both splitting and togetherness.
This is not a box
Vector Tools/Adobe Illustrator
Inspired by René Magritte’s “Ceci n'est pas une pipe” (This is not a pipe), this image invokes the experience of a being who is told what they are or are not. First the world announces it to others, then to the being, then they believe it themselves.
Abstraction of being
Vector Illustration
This image is a graphic illustration of a being wearing clown makeup. This is not who they are, but who they are made up to be, abstracted from their true being in such a way that they are recognizable, but not themselves.

“Dance of the Siren;” Digital art piece (Photoshop); I tried to challenge myself to create a semi-smooth flow to the dance and catch the subtle movements of the hair and skirt. It was modeled after a dance performed by Ariana Grande during a live concert.
“Chameleon Skin;” Digital art piece (Illustrator); This image was modeled after a close up shot of the skin of a chameleon.
“Chameleon Skin Altered;” Digital art piece (Illustrator); This piece is essentially the same as the previous image, close up of chameleon skin, but with a color palette swap.
