The Homoerotic Works of Charles Griffin Farr
Curated by Ava Kristy
February 19—February 29, 2020
Opening Reception February 19, 5pm-7pm

Exhibiting the Homoerotic work of Charles Griffin Farr will address sexuality and forms of the male gaze. Born in 1908, Farr began his career in New York before settling in San Francisco. Several of his works were gifted to the University Collection. Although his work features a variety of subjects, his figure drawings and ink drawings reflect the artists sexuality. The interaction between model and artist presents a unique view of relationships between men as both sexual and loving.

About the curator:
Ava Kristy is a fourth year History of Art and Visual Culture and Legal Studies double major. She is currently the Chancellor's Undergraduate Intern at the Sesnon Art gallery where she works archiving the Farr collection, assisting with various installations and managing gallery volunteers. In the future she plans to pursue a masters and PhD in Art History and eventually teach. When she is not working on Art History she enjoys expanding her own practice in fiber arts.
