Dear UCSC Art students,
As it seems there is still some confusion regarding access to campus facilities due to COVID-19 we thought it would be best to clarify that in compliance with UC and state mandates we must keep our Art Department studios and shops closed to students until further notice.
FALL 2020 = NO ACCESS: At present there will definitely NOT BE ANY ACCESS for students to any of the Art Department studios or shops for the FALL 2020 quarter. There will be no exceptions as we must remain safe and comply with the rules.
WINTER 2021 = TBD: Currently there is no certainty but it is looking likely that there will not be student access to Art Department studios or shops for Winter 2021. It is possible that may change and we do hope that it does but at present it seems unlikely.
SPRING 2021 = TBD: Again, there is no certainty but we very much hope that the situation will change by Spring 2021 and hope that we will be able to open the studios by then.
Senior shows and quarterly Open Studios will be hosted on the Art Department website so that we can still deliver these experiences remotely until we are able to return to campus. Emails will go out to declared art majors regarding the details for virtual Open Studios as well as virtual senior shows so please check your @ucsc.edu emails regularly for those announcements.
Thank you for your understanding and patience and we all wish you all good health. We look forward to seeing you in person again and we will open the studios as soon as it is safe to do so and in compliance with UC policy and state regulations.
