Enrique Leal exhibits on the Prague riverfront embankment

As unmediated transcriptions of light and chemistry, Enrique Leal's photogram series Elliptical Emanation transform the sun's projections of translucid objects into radiant and malleable shapes. The river embankment gallery's lenticular and pivoting portal serves as a site-specific incentive for cyanotype and digital prints. This new series was created for the award-winning architectural  riverfront  artspace in Prague.

Enrique Leal is Associate Professor in Print Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz (USA), and Co-Director of the Contemporary Print Media Research Center.  Originally from Recife Brazil, Leal has worked as a printmaker in the U.S.A. and Spain before receiving his B.F.A. from the Polytechnique University of Valencia, M.F.A. and PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM), where he established the Print Media Area as a professor and researcher from 1998-2014. He is the recipient of printmaking fellowships from the Institute of Iberian-American Culture, the Spanish Academy in Rome, and a visiting artist/teacher at Rutgers Center for Innovative Print and Paper, Rutgers University. Leal’s work has been exhibited and is found in collections in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Hungary, Spain and the United States.
