Human Race Art Contest with $500 Prize!

The Human Race Walkathon & Fun Run Committee is seeking an exceptional piece of artwork created by a local artist to serve as the official poster and t-shirt design for the 34th annual Human Race to be held on May 10th, 2014. Artists are encouraged to incorporate this year’s race theme in their artwork: “Step Right Up”The project is open to artists with experience in the field of fine arts and/or graphic arts. A brief resume submitted with the artwork should include: name, address, phone number & email address. The Human Race is a family friendly venue that engages the community to make a difference for local organizations. Participants bring their dogs, wear costumes, and have lots of fun. It is a fabulous time with food, fun and music along West Cliff Drive. The Volunteer Center sponsors the Human Race – Santa Cruz County’s largest collaborative community fundraising event that benefits over 150 local non-profits, schools and faith based organizations. The race begins near Natural Bridges State Park and winds along West Cliff Drive. Please visit to learn more. 2014 Human Race ArtworkContest Eligibility Dimensions All media in vertical or horizontal orientation will be considered. The poster will measure 11” x 17”. The submitted artwork should be slightly smaller as the Human Race Committee will need room for the event information graphics on the poster. Selection CriteriaThe artwork will be selected by the Human Race Committee on October 15th. The selected artwork will successfully incorporate the philosophy, feel, the carnival theme and location of the event. The image will be used in a variety of publications and will need to read well both large and small. Human Race Philosophy Compensation Artist will receive $500 commission and: Your artwork will be displayed on website, in promotions, posters and will be displayed on 2,000 T-shirts during Human Race at Awards Ceremony and other Volunteer Center events. Artwork Submission Volunteer Center, 1740 17th Ave, Santa Cruz CA 95062.
