Tue, Jan 28, 2014, 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm
Digital Arts Research Center Room 230
University of California, Santa Cruz

The Art Department is hosting Artist’s Talks & Presentations Winter 2014:  Stories Unlimited: Layered Meanings and Process.

Visual artist, printmaker and researcher Alexandra Emberley will give a presentation on her recent project “Fur Stories [you are not wild enough for me]”, a multi-disciplinary installation of print-media, textile work, sculpture and video. Her presentation will focus on the interaction of matter and story in the development of her practice and an ongoing interest in how images foster emergent encounters and new perceptions of the familiar. A multi-disciplinary artist working in print, drawing new media, textiles & installation, Alexandra Emberley recently installed her MFA exhibition “Fur Stories [you are not wild enough for me]” at the University of Alberta. Alexandra has led courses at Art & Design Universities across Canada in printmaking, drawing, visual culture and lm studies. She has participated in residencies at the Ban Centre for Fine Arts and in the Klosters Bentlage print studio in Germany. Her projects have received funding through the Nova Scotia CCH Council and HRM Open Projects. This past year her project The Fur Suite was exhibited in the Biennale Internationale d’Estampe Contemporaine de Trois-Rivière and at the Impact8 Printmaking conference in Dundee, Scotland.
