The physical Sesnon Underground is currently closed, following UC campus precautions, but we are alive online! Please see our schedule and archive.
November 2020: Sesnon Underground goes virtual!
While UC Santa Cruz continues remote activity, the Sesnon Underground will continue to operate virtually to host student exhibitions.
Unlike the typical two-week viewing period for in-person exhibitions, virtual exhibitions will be hosted on the Sesnon Underground website through Spring quarter 2021. Your virtual exhibition will be promoted on the @sesnonunderground Instagram page in Posts and Stories and on the Sesnon Gallery Facebook page.
If you are a UC Santa Cruz student interested in having a virtual exhibition, please send a proposal to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please read detailed instructions and guidelines for virtual exhibition proposals here.
We are open to new and experimental exhibition concepts because of the new virtual format. Don’t hesitate to reach out and we can help you execute your vision! Contact us and tell us a bit about what you had in mind (What medium are you working with? How could your exhibit be tailored for virtual formats? Why are you interested in doing this type of exhibit? etc.)
We are open for proposals for Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 quarter!
Sesnon Underground Mission Statement
The Sesnon Underground is an experimental educational space where UCSC students are given the opportunity to exhibit their own bodies of work. Affiliated with the Sesnon Art Gallery in Porter College, the Sesnon Underground serves as a student run space. Artists are entrusted with the responsibility of curating, installing and marketing their own shows with the assistance and facilitation of the Sesnon Gallery. The Sesnon Underground offers a hands-on educational space for the UCSC community and welcomes students of all disciplines to engage in the experience of the space.
If you are a student and are interested in having an exhibition please read the FAQ below and contact us at email@example.com.
